Marley Twist Tutorial

Hello Naturalista’s!!! Sorry I have been MIA, I was sick with some sort of stomach bug that had me in the BED!! Any hoo, IM BACK! And with my much awaited Marley/Havana twist tutorial. If you remember a few weeks back I posted about my Marley twist attempt and I FAILED!!! *bows head* BUT… I CONCURED and succeeded!!!!!!!!!!! YAYYYY!!!!

Details: The hair I used was called Equal Marley braid Hair, I got it from my local BSS for $5. Many have asked how I got it to look so soft, I researched and this brand was a softer of the Marley hair and more easy to manage

I also used eco styler gel along with my Qhemet twist butter, and ElastaQP mango moisturizer to twist the hair.

So I ended up using 4 packs, because I doubled the hair. I explain it all in my YouTube video found here 🙂 http://youtu.be/ndMMfjUbmgw

THE TRICK!! Sooooo… I twist right over left … so thats going to the left lol so at the root I twisted the hair to the right and then proceeded to right over left. This always confuses me!!!!  If you twist the opposite way reverse 🙂 . I liked this way because It looks like your real hair. I got so many questions and ALOT of people thought it was mine! HEY NOW !!! LOL ANDDDD I was brave and did my cousins TOO!!! Hope I didn’t confuse y’all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. It looks really good chelle. I’ went out and bought the hair today so I’m going to attempt it this week. How do you maintain them? And, do you just cover it with a satin scarf or bonnet?

  2. You hair is so pretty. I’m happy that the Marley hair looks just as natural as the Havana Twist hair. I love love love the way your bun looks with the twist. Very cute. i’m going back to my Havana twist this weekend for sure!

  3. Hey girl!!! Just did mine!! I think you got the best tutorial out there!! I followed other ones and mine never came out right! I was like,” I’m gone try this one more time” and my hair looks great!! Thanks a bunch! 🙂

  4. have you had any problems with slippage? I usually go with a braid at the base and it’s a solid attachement but this one looks so much softer.

  5. I am considering doing this look! Ive been natural 9 months (I done the big chop!) and Im blonde! Im not sure if I should dye my hair FIRST! or try rocking the blonde twists! Grrrr! These look great! You done well 🙂

  6. I’m so glad I ran into your post on curly Nikki! I have been debating for the longest if I should get braids (not the business for my edges) and after seeing how simple and nice your braids look I decided to do the Havana twists. Mine do not look as good as yours but I did pretty good for my first time. This hairstyle will be in heavy rotation. Thanks again!!!!

  7. Just tried this yesterday. I got sooo many compliments! I used some cheap braid hair but it worked like a charm. Thank you so much for your clear tutorial.

  8. Will freshly relaxed hair get great looking results with marley/havana twists? If not, what type of braids will look great on freshly relaxed hair?

  9. So chelle do you think with this hair and style you could take them out and put the same hair back in or different hair? I’ll be starting college this month and I want something to maybe last the first couple months just until I adjust to college life and I wont have a car (or money lol) to get more
